  2. There is so much to enjoy here that it is hard to know where to start, but here is my listing of the highlights. CD 1, which is probably two LPs, consists of the Schumann and Grieg Piano Concertos with the Philharmonia (Herbert Menges) and Royal Philharmonic (Silvertri). These are simply magical performances from /5(16).
  3. The recordings of piano concertos by Rachmaninov (in C minor), Prokofiev (in G major) and Schumann that were made in are still regarded as true highlights of recording history. Since the early Seventies I've been listening mostly to two recordings of the Grieg and Schumann concertos, one by Radu Lupu, with Andre Previn and LSO (Decca or LIM), and this one by Stephen Kovacevich, with Colin Davis and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Lupu provides the sheer brute strength and Kovacevich adds the poetry/5(3).
