  2. Haunting, emotional and epic but at the same time subtle and introspective, VIPASSI’s debut album is an enrapturing and surprising listen from an astoundingly talented ensemble of wonderful musical resourcefulness. This is instrumental prog-metal done very, very right. Rating: 9/

  4. Jan 20,  · One of the first instrumental metal artists I was pointed to by a metal enthusiast friend, Vipassi delivers an incredible album of dark melodies, technical riffs, intricate drum rhythms, and yet is oddly soothing at moments throughout before jumping right back in. 5/5(1).

  8. The band was born from jam sessions in between guitarist Ben Boyle and members of Australia’s Ne Obliviscaris – drummer Dan Presland, bassist Brendan Brown and guitarist Benjamin Baret. Soon, as the press release goes on to say, they “settled on an instrumental style that captured the openness aimed for to allow any listener to interpret and connect with the material subjectively.
